She has also completed a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science (Database Development) at one of the Kabul Private Institute of Higher Educations. Before joining as managing director of the Najiba Foundation, she has worked as Social Mobilizer with COAR in Dakundi Province. She has also worked as Health Program Officer with Oxfam in central Afghanistan mainly in Daikundi Province. She was member of Rangin Kaman Network (a network which was working in environment sector) in Kabul. She also did a short term internship at the Ministry of Information and Telecommunication.

Communication and Culture at York University (Toronto, Canada) and her BA in Law in Gawharshad University (Kabul, Afghanistan). Zahra has worked as a journalist with local and international media—including The New York Times—for 6 years in Kabul. She is interested in gender & women’s issues, representation of women in culture and media, ethnicity and identity formation and critical race studies.

Raihana Mahdizada is in the final term of a Master degree at Oxford Brookes University and studying MA International Security, which aimed to be ... complete in September 2020. She has completed her bachelor degree in Politics and Philosophy (BSc) at Oxford Brookes University (Oxford, United Kingdom). Raihana has worked as a member of Provincial Council in Daikundi province in Afghanistan for 4 years and held different positions within the Council such as Secretary and chief of Researching and Supervising Committee. Raihana has also worked as a member of Hazara Council of Great Britain (HCOGB) for one year to communicate and assist with all communities around the UK. Later during her study at the university, she took one term work placement in the Vale of White Horse District Council at Abingdon Oxfordshire in the Election and Planning Committee. She is interested in global politics, international security and diplomacy and currently, she is undertaking her thesis in “Security and Women’s Participation in Politics”. Her other major research involves power division among ethnicity in Afghanistan, state and non-state terrorism, gender and human rights issues.


Hussain Rezai

Hussain Rezai works as Head of Research and Institutional Development at the Ombudsman Office since October 2019.... He has completed a master’s degree in International Relations at Avicenna University, based in Kabul. Before joining Ombudsman Office, He worked as Senior Researcher at Independent Joint Anti-Corruption Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (MEC) from August 2013 until October 2019. He led MEC’s anti-corruption research projects in different sectors specifically in education sector, health sector and land management/system in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, he has contributed in developing policy recommendations and MEC M&E systems. Prior to that, he worked as Research and Advocacy officer at Human Rights and Research Consortium. He worked as Vulnerability to Corruption Assessment Officer at Management System International. He also worked with Human Rights and Eradication of Violence Organization as Project Officer. His research background is anti-corruption. For few months, he also worked with Bokhdi News Agency as Dari Editor. He is interested in anti-corruption and education initiatives that empower the society against corruption, violence, poverty (or initiatives to support the society to reach 17 SDG Gaols). He is the co-founder of Najiba Foundation.

Jawad Zawulistani works as the Managing Director of the Afghanistan Human Rights and Democracy Organization in June 2019. He has completed ... a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution and Coexistence at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandies University through the Fulbright scholarship program. Before leaving AHRDO in July 2017, he worked as the organization’s Program Manager and led several projects focusing on empowering victims of war, promoting human rights and addressing ethnic conflict in Afghanistan. Prior to that, he worked as an analyst and researcher with leading Afghan media focusing on topics of conflict, peace and security in Afghanistan. He is interested in initiatives that promote youth-led peace, foster dialogue and understanding and empower both youth and war victims to make meaningful societal contributions. Protecting human rights in conflict-affected contexts and promoting inclusive conflict transformation policies/approaches are his other areas of professional interest.

He is now studying Master of commerce at Teresian College, University of Mysore. Previously, he has worked as Program Manager at AHRDO, Program Officer at International Psychosocial Organization (IPSO), Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at Toran Afghanistan, and as Researcher with the Afghanistan Watch.

Anis Rezaei is an MPhil candidate at the University of Oxford. She holds a BA (Honours) degree in Philosophy, Politics and ... Economics from the University of Essex. Anis is passionate about and has extensive experience of working with different grassroots and community organisations in the UK as well as Afghanistan. Anis has also served as the chairperson of Hazara Council of Great Britain (HCGB), a community-based organisation in the UK that works to facilitate the integration and impactful societal contribution of Hazara diaspora communities in the UK. As the leader of HCGB, Anis spearheaded and successfully delivered several educational, cultural, and philanthropic projects to enhance community capacity development and foster meaningful cross-community interaction among different communities in the UK.
